# MapX credits: how AI usage is billed

> MapX bills AI usage in credits based on actual token consumption. Learn how credits are calculated, what each plan includes, and how to top up.

MapX charges AI usage in **credits**. Every AI turn consumes credits based on the actual tokens the model processes — not on a fixed per-question fee. Your plan includes a monthly credit allowance, and you can top up when you need more.

## Monthly credit allowance

| Business (team) | 150,000 shared by the owner and up to 4 members |

Unused monthly allowance resets at the start of each billing cycle and does not carry over. Your plan's credit allowance is separate from any credits you top up.

## How a turn consumes credits

When you send a message, the AI processes three kinds of tokens, each priced differently:

| Token type | Price per 1M tokens |

| Input (uncached) | \$0.445 |
| Cached input | \$0.015 |
| Output | \$1.334 |

The cost is converted to credits at **100 credits per USD** and rounded to the nearest whole credit:

In practice this means:

* A short, direct question costs a few credits.
* Long analyses, large files, or long conversations cost more because they process more tokens.
* Reusing context from earlier in the conversation is cheaper — cached input tokens cost about 3% of uncached input.

You can see your allowance, usage, and balance on the **Plans** page in the dashboard. When your balance runs out, MapX pauses the chat and prompts you to top up.

## Top-up packages

Top-up credits never expire and are used after your monthly plan allowance:

| 10,000 credits | \$95 |

## Business team pools

The Business plan is a team plan. The owner and up to 4 members share one credit pool of 150,000 credits per month. Every member's turns draw from the same pool, so usage across the team counts together.
