A knowledge base is a collection of documents that the AI can retrieve from during a conversation. Instead of relying only on general knowledge, the AI searches your knowledge base and answers with your content as context.

Create a knowledge base

  1. Open Knowledge bases in the dashboard.
  2. Create a knowledge base with a name and description.
  3. Upload documents or add URLs to ingest.
Supported sources include uploaded documents and web pages ingested from a URL. After ingestion, the content is indexed for retrieval.

Retrieval in chat

When a question touches your knowledge base, the AI retrieves the most relevant passages — combining keyword and vector search — and uses them to answer. You can ask follow-up questions the same way you would with any chat: the retrieval stays scoped to your knowledge base.

Storage limits

Knowledge base storage counts against your plan:

When to use a knowledge base

Use a knowledge base when the AI should answer from documents you control — company policy, field guides, product documentation, research notes. For reusable instructions and workflows, use a skill instead.
Documents in your knowledge base stay scoped to your account and are retrieved only for your conversations.
